SCF1734 #9 Eddie Mitchell driving the Hawkshaw Hawkins Special

Everyone knows about Marty Robbins and the time he spent running stock cars at Nashville before going on stage at the Grand Ole Opera. Well, here's another old time country western singer who also hand a hand in the racing in Nashville. He didn't drive but Hawkshaw Hawkins sponsored this car driven by Eddie Mitchell at the fairgrounds track in the early 1960's. Hawkshaw of course lost his life in the same plane crash that took Patsy Cline from us.
